PREDEAL SURROUNDINGS ON MOUNTAIN-BIKE

DAY 1

The track starts from center town Predeal and calmly climb towards theSusai Lodge, for about 6km.The road at the beggining is on asphalt for about 3km, after it became paved with gravel for the rest of the distance.

At the crossroads, we will turn left ,and before the downhill to Azuga Valley we find before us an breathtaking and imposing landscape of Neamtu and Baiului Mountains.The descent is very long and beautiful(about 10 km)all the way to Azuga Trout Reservation.Here we take a delicious lunch, mainly made from fresh trout on grill or rolled on cornflower trout, cooked on hot pan after. We don't have more than 1 beer, because the best part of the road is still to come.

We climb the Limbaselul Valley and after 8 km we wait for the true adventure to come, as we find the crossroads that we already pass through one time before in the morning. Here we turn left, and we go into a single trail section which is technical and demanding, with interesting downhill parts(for the experienced ones there is the possibility of going down on roots and rocks).

On Saua Calului it starts an series of 3 short but intense uphills, which takes us to light on Cocosul skiing slope. The pist is crossed on bike, just the last part is an short push-bike.

From the "what used to be" Hotel Clabucet Plecare (now in ruins), it starts one of the most beautiful and spectacular descents, part of the annual MTB race that City of Predeal is Organizing.

We pass close to Garbova Chalet and the path is turning us towards Predeal, where we are expected, at the base of Clabucet skiing slope,at the SkySnowSchool afterski and ski school, with delicacies:

ram stew with polenta or goulash cooked on cauldron and a glass of freezing cold quality white wine.

 

DAY 2

The trail starts in center town Predeal, and right away starts to go up on asphalt on sideways streets , through houses an backyards.

After passing a small section on a path on the woods, we reach asphalt again , and for another 2 km the climb is continous.The good part is that we pass by 2 mountain water springs, where we can refuel.

All the way to Trei Brazi the road is descending, and there we go straight into the woods on a beautiful single trail which will take us all the way to Secuilor Lodge. The mountain-bikes will fly all this way, knowing that it's where they belong.

After a short break for hydratation an photos(the landscape is amazing-all 3 mountains that surround Predeal are shining above us), we go into the woods, and the bike downhill that we find before us is a single track that put a smile on the group face.

In the valley we arrive at the foot of Postavarul Mountain, and the  spectacur of Rasnoava Canyon leave us amaze and breathless.

Here we are expected by a group of rock climbers which invite us to a rock climbing session (the track being accesible to everybody), afther that some of us came down on rappel descendind over an interesting beetle.

After lunch(very inspired picked with grill and salad), we leave on the gravel paved road all the way to the asphalt. Here we go up for 2 km, and then we turn left on an paved road that goes to an hidden Catolic Monestry where we find time for hydratation.

From there to Trei Brazi are only 2 steps away, and then back to Predeal.

The dinner is a true feast at Restaurant Dragului Predeal, where Chef Gabi Drilea spoils us as usual.
